Early History 1976

Harold Zurbuchen purchases the property at 509 West Verona Avenue in Verona from DX Sunray, where he had worked as a fuel distribution agent since 1954. He opens Zurbuchen Oil Company, a one-man tank-wagon operation serving local agricultural, construction, and residential home-heating customers. In 1978, Harold’s son, Barth, joins the business to meet growing customer needs. Together, they expand the business by adding an automated fuel station and oil distribution.

1986

In 1986, Barth Zurbuchen purchases Zurbuchen Oil Company from his father, renaming the business to Zurbuchen Oil, Inc. Under his leadership, the business grows to include brother Matt Zurbuchen, additional employees, trucks, and Z-tanks for on-site construction fueling.

New Location

After 54 years at the West Verona Avenue location, Zurbuchen Oil, Inc. moves operations to the current location at 309 Bruce Street in Verona. The expanded site provides easy access for large trucks, additional product selection, office and shop space, and a vending lobby. Greg Sunde assumes the role of dispatch operations.

Current Operation

With the addition of third generation family members, Zurbuchen Oil, Inc. continues to provide quality products, high standards, and superior service to customers throughout the Dane County area. We appreciate the patronage of our customers, both old and new, that have been the mainstay of the operation of Zurbuchen Oil for over 60 years.
